They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
This tree that is spoken of in this scripture is such a great picture of consistency and stability. Whatever season or whatever kind of day it is, this tree remains firmly grounded and always bears fruit.
Jesus, like this tree is our perfect example of consistency and stability. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He never changes, he isn’t moody, he is rock solid!
Realistically I know I will never attain perfection in these two areas because I am human and I can never eliminate emotion. But what I do know is that I have a choice to learn how to manage my emotions. How do I manage my emotions you ask?
Well I am glad you ask that question! To manage our emotions we have to consciously, deliberately, purposefully decide to place our trust and confidence in Christ. We must think and believe that we are consistent, stable, solid, determined people. We must renew our minds to truly believe this for ourselves, otherwise we will never enjoy any of God’s promises.
Life can be an emotional roller coaster as we all know. If we picture a roller coaster it appears fun and entertaining, zooming to great heights and swooping to great lows. However if we allow our emotions to do this it’s completely exhausting.
So today, I encourage you to be determined to not walk according to what you feel but walk according to what God’s word says about you. Say aloud, I am a constant, stable, determined, solid person.
